Saradchandra Govindrao Pawar is an Indian politician who served as a Chief Minister of Maharashtra for a decade. He formed the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) in 1999 but later the party was split after his nephew Ajit Pawar formed a separate faction. Sharad Pawar is the most senior political leader in the party. In a campaign meeting at Baramati assembly constituency, he addressed that, he is not in power but definitely in Rajya Sabha. He still has one and half year and a mile to go before his retirement but also at the same time he will have to think about whether to go to Rajya Sabha or not. He also said that he will not contest in Lok Sabha neither will not contest any election. Sarad Pawar said that every time he refused not to contest in the election, the party always push him to contest for this he feels hesitate and said that he has fought enough in the election and contested fourteen times in the elections. He shares his ideology that he does not want a power but that does not mean he will stop working for the social, but instead he relies on the new generation to do better than him and give a space for the new generation. He will continue to serve and work for the public even if he has no power. He also said that, during his tenure he have done many works for the welfare of the public and also have passed a law for women equal rights in the state, exporting farmers’ agricultural produce and many more. He also served as the Chief Minister, Defence and also in the Agricultural Department in the past. He asserts that one should know the condition and problem of others and serve better rather than just holding the power. Although he has done many works in the past and whatever works is yet to be complete should focus by the next generation to complete. Sharad Pawar said that this time he will have to stop somewhere and bring the new generation forward and also strengthen the leadership who could work for the next 30 years.
